What does 'certified' pet sitter mean?
Being a Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) means we’ve gone above and beyond the basics of pet sitting to demonstrate true professionalism, knowledge, and dedication to the highest standards of care.
Our certification comes from Pet Sitters International (PSI), the leading educational association for professional pet sitters. To become certified, we had to:
-
Agree to PSI’s Recommended Quality Standards and Code of Ethics, which ensure we operate with integrity, responsibility, and professionalism.
-
Pass a comprehensive exam covering pet health, behavior, first aid, emergency preparedness, and best business practices.
-
Complete 30 hours of continuing education every three years, keeping our knowledge current with the latest in pet care and safety.
â
We’re proud to be one of only 30 CPPS-certified pet sitters in Ohio—a distinction that reflects our strong commitment to providing safe, reliable, and knowledgeable care for every pet and home we serve.
â
When you hire a certified sitter, you’re hiring someone who takes their role seriously—someone who combines passion with proven expertise to deliver peace of mind every time.

Sherrie, the Puppy Nanny
Believing in the divine purpose to care for both the animals & the spaces God entrusted to us, I am blessed to introduce my company to you.

Sherrie
Hi, I’m Sherrie, AKA the Puppy Nanny!
I've been enjoying overnight pet sitting for over a decade -- you might say, 84 in dog years! I’ve had a variety of pet assignments and have even traveled out of state to assist a fellow pet sitter! Having people’s trust is truly my favorite compliment. The types of pets I have cared for include new-born puppies and nursing dams, pure-breed dogs and rescue dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, chickens, fish, and of course cats, cats and more cats! One client that I love to highlight introduced me to the world of service dogs and I was accepted as a puppy raiser for Pilot Dogs which trains canines to assist the blind. Currently, I enjoy the loyal companionship of many, many wonderful pets but. . . none of them live at my home. So, I can dedicate all my time to my fabulous clients’ pets at their home!
As a child we always had dogs in the home, and I believe pets are God’s gifts to help us learn how to give unconditional love. The last dog I lived with found my husband’s cancer twice in two different locations during a 5-year time span. His name was Max and his devotion to us made the cancer journey bearable.
Just like dogs love to dig in the dirt, so do I. Being outside in God’s creation is my favorite way to spend time. As a Master Gardener I have an addiction to plants and I love to give away Native plants and seeds. So now you know why our name is Homebound Tails ‘n Gardens.
